The Board of Directors for People for Urban Progress (PUP) is pleased to announce that Andrea Cowley, former Associate Director of Dress for Success Indianapolis, will succeed Michael Bricker as the full-time Executive Director.
“We are excited to begin working with Andrea and were struck by her clarity of vision, philanthropic know-how, and her infectious positivity. She comes with over a decade of non-profit management experience, is a committed relationship builder, and is deeply connected to Indianapolis’ many change-makers,” said Michael Bricker, Founder of PUP.
Andrea begins her new role today, immediately tackling PUP’s ongoing initiatives including the Central State Connectivity Plan, IUPUI redwood reuse, workforce development training, the Daylight series, and resource re-purposing. Andrea will guide PUP into a fresh chapter, beginning with a 10-year anniversary event this fall (stay tuned!). Michael will continue to serve as a design advisor and brand champion, assuming the role of Director of Public Design to focus more specifically on project design and development.
"I am privileged and thrilled to have the opportunity to follow in Michael Bricker's footsteps and serve as the new Executive Director at People for Urban Progress,” said Andrea. “As a proud and long-time resident of Indianapolis, I have been privileged to witness the impact of good people giving back to the community. Together, we are stronger, and it is in this spirit that I begin my work at PUP. I'm excited to work with the team, board, and volunteers as we enact our vision as Citizen Design Champions."
In her twelve years with Dress for Success Indianapolis, nine of them as Associate Director, Andrea has helped to transform a small nonprofit into a prominent social service agency in Indianapolis. Andrea has a B.S. in Journalism Graphics from Ball State University and a Certificate in Fundraising Management from the Indiana University School on Philanthropy.
“Andrea’s experience building Dress for Success Indianapolis into one of the country’s most effective affiliates makes her an excellent match for PUP’s strategic goals.” said Donna Sink, President of the PUP board.
